Salesforce agrees to acquire voice-agent firm Cresta

Short answer

Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, a platform of voice agents that handle customer calls plus real-time guidance for human reps. The goal is to tie call content to Service Cloud customer records. Closing is expected in the first quarter of fiscal year 2028, pending regulatory approvals.

What this means for operators

If your support team runs on Salesforce, expect voice agents and call analysis to become something sold alongside Service Cloud; if you use Cresta or a rival voice-AI vendor today, this is the moment to ask about contract terms, integrations and roadmap. Nothing changes before closing, and the source gives no pricing or packaging, so budget nothing yet. Do list which calls in your queue are routine enough for a voice agent and which still need a person, because that list decides whether a bundled offer is worth evaluating.

Salesforce announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cresta, a company that sells voice agents and conversation-analysis software for customer service.

What Cresta does

According to Salesforce, Cresta's voice agents take on complex customer calls and carry them through to resolution. They hold real-time conversations and cope with callers interrupting. The same platform also coaches human representatives during live calls and reviews every interaction. It additionally tests and improves the voice agents, and measures agents and people against one quality standard. Salesforce names Marriott, Comcast and Alaska Airlines among the brands using it at scale.

Why Salesforce wants it

Salesforce's argument is that conversation insight is often cut off from customer context and from the tools teams use to act on it. Salesforce holds the customer history and the systems where work gets done; Cresta contributes an understanding of what is said on calls and the ability to act through voice agents. Combined with Service Cloud, the stated aim is to link each conversation to the customer and to its result: resolution, retention and revenue.

Kishan Chetan, who leads Agentforce and Service Cloud at Salesforce, said more service is being resolved inside the conversation itself and that the deal brings the customer, the conversation and the outcome into one place. Cresta CEO Ping Wu said the combination will embed real-time conversation intelligence and agentic experiences directly in Salesforce's service platform.

Timing and continuity

The transaction should be completed during the first three months of fiscal 2028, provided standard conditions are met, such as obtaining regulatory clearances. Once it closes, Cresta says it will keep supporting the contact center and telephony platforms its customers use today. That is the one commitment in the announcement that speaks directly to existing customers who are not on Salesforce.

What the announcement does not say

The source gives no purchase price, no product roadmap and no information on how Cresta will be packaged or priced within Service Cloud. Any plan that depends on those details is premature until Salesforce publishes them.
